A Streetcar Named Desire (13)
Tonight I have finished reading scene 11 and the play A Sreetcar Named Desire. This last scene is extremely awkward. Stella is now home with the baby, and had been told by Blanche what has happened. I'm guessing that Stella refused to believe it or something because she is still with Stanley, and Eunice tells her that things must go on being the same. Blanche is getting ready to leave and Stella is helping her pack her things, Stella and Eunice are purposely giving her compliments to sooth her. Blanche apparently thinks she is leaving to go on a cruise with her friend Shep Huntleigh. But it seems as if Stella and Stanley have something else planned because Stella does not want her to leave, and Eunice mentions something about people coming. So they hold her off until a man and woman show up at the door, Blanche is excited to think it is Shep but it turns out to be these people she doesn't know. The man is a Doctor and the woman is a Matron, and they are there to take her away for no other reason then to put her in an Insane Asylum. They have trouble with her first but the Doctor calms her and gets her to leave pretty peacefully. Stella is freaking out about them taking away Blanche, but Stanley, I guess calms her down, I don't really know, and the play ends. I liked this play because it was just very exciting. Between Stanley's violent mood swings with smashing silver ware, radio's, and even raping Blanche, to Blanche being out of her mind and ended up being put into an Insane Asylum. You just never expect any of this at the beginning which is a total turn. Anyway I enjoyed it. Moving on.
