A Streetcar Named Desire (7)

Tonight I finished reading scene 4 of streetcar. So it starts off the morning after the whole drunk incident with Stanley happened. Blanche comes in pretty upset and I'm assuming angry at Stella for going back to Stanley and also sleeping with him. Stella is very nonchalant about everything and acts like it happens all the time, which it sounds like it does. And Blanche just seems amazed that anyone, or them two specifically, can live with such an animal as Blanche calls him. So Blanche goes on this rant about how the both of them need to get "out" of this life with Stanley. Stella seems pretty against it but is just like whatever say what you want. So Blanche just starts talking about how she met this millionaire who she used to date and that he would probably lend them money to get out. And she continues on about how Stanley is an animal, meanwhile, he's outside listening to almost everything, but then plays it off as if he didn't hear anything. And Stella runs up and gives him a huge hug I think in spite of what Blanche said. So I'll continue.

A Streetcar Named Desire (6)

Tonight, I have finished reading scene 3 of streetcar. It's crazy how violent Stanley gets within a matter of I'm assuming seconds, like really, it's just a radio and the other guys seemed to like it. Stanley most definitely just wants to be in power, and show that he makes the decisions in the house, even if he did like the radio or if his friends approved. But obviously his friends do not approve, especially of the fact that he went ballistic and hit Stella, even though she is pregnant, but even with that, it still doesn't make it right. And it's a good thing that the other guys knew it was bad and kind of restrained him enough so that Stella could get out with out being hurt anymore and it was kind of Blanche to get her clothes just in case. And I think it's weird how Stanley goes from monster to "What just happened?" in like no time, but then he goes monster again when the guys are trying to put him under the shower. So they leave because I guess they're afraid of him, so Stanley realizes that Stella left and calls upstairs a couple time telling Eunice that he wants her back. When that doesn't work, he goes outside with like no clothes and he starts screaming her name, eventually she creeps down and goes into his arms and they go off into the dark house. Blanche seems mystified that Stella would actually go back to him, but Mitch knows how much they love each other and that they would get through it, as always. So I'll continue tomorrow.

A Streetcar Named Desire (5)

Tonight, I have started reading Scene 3 of streetcar. Right, now a game of poker is going on over at Stella's and Stanley's house. It is pretty much a boys get together type of night with the obvious rule of no wives or women around. So while this is going Stella had taken Blanche out to a show and then out for a couple drinks. Also there is a bit of tension between Stanley and Mitch, because Mitch seems to really care about his sick mother, and hates going out knowing that she won't go to sleep until he comes home. So Stanley pretty much is saying get out if you don't want to be here. By this time, it is around 2:30 A.M., and Stella and Blanche finally come through the door and just go into the bedroom and get changed. So the women and the guys are doing their own separate thing. But Blanche meets Mitch and its kind of like "I really like you." at first sight. And they end up talking more about each other and looks like they make a real connection. But it gets ruined after Blanche turns on the radio again and Stanley flips out and throws it through the window. I will continue reading.

A Streetcar Named Desire (4)

Tonight I have finished reading scene 2 of streetcar. We still don't really know what happened to Belle Reve, It seems like it was lost because of the mortgage. And I guess Blanche really gets tired of having to deal with the papers of Belle Reve and "endows" them to Stanley. Stanley says hes going to have a lawyer stop by and check everything out, I don't know how true that is but he seems pretty determined. And we figure out that Stella is pregnant and that she doesn't want Blanche to know, but Stanley ends up slipping in the end. She also has lots of love letters from her dead lover which I'm assuming is her husband but they only use that term once so I'm unsure. a this point, I really just wish I knew what was going through Blanche's mind and if she was really hiding anything, because if she is, it's gonna come out sooner or later. So, I'll continue.

A Streetcar Named Desire (3)

Tonight, I started reading scene 2 of streetcar. Stanley and Stella seem to be having issues about Blanche and what exactly happened to Belle Reve, was it sold? Was it burnt down? This is pretty much skipped over until Stanley brings it up but even then, Stella refuses to read anything into it. I'm starting to think that Stanley is on to something here with the whole, how did she lose it. And to prove it he even brought out the expensive clothing so maybe she did sell the place, but who knows. And Blanche is really flirting with Stanley, always asking him how she looks and I don't think she realizes that he is not that type of gentleman. So i'll keep reading to see if anything happens with this figuring out about Belle Reve and Blanche's dead husband.

A Streetcar Named Desire (2)

Tonight I finished reading scene 1 of streetcar. So far I've noticed that Blanche is a talker and won't shut up. She is also very defensive about her and Stella's home Belle Reve and how it was lost, which she has yet to say. I feel bad for Stella, if I had to be a sibling to Blanche, I would've left too. And yeah, 10 years ago when their fathjer died, Stella left and found a husband in New Orleans, while Blanche stayed back and apparently tried to save it. Blanche is also a high school teacher, or was , I'm not really sure what happened. Also, Blanche obviously does not want to be seen in the light because I'm guessing because of her wrinkles. I also thought it was kind of mean how she was basically calling Stella fat and how her herself didn't put on any weight. Also when Stanley comes in, he seems to be nice to her and she is just over the top nervous. I don't really know why she would be, and also it seemed like it hit a sore spot when Stanley asked about her husband and she said he died. So I'll keep reading.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1)

Tonight I started reading a streetcar named desire. It starts out in New Orleans, and I instantly new how it looked like just from the description and from my seeing pictures. So far I know about Stella living here with her husband Stanley and another lady Eunice. Everyone seems real friendly with each other. Except for Eunice and the colored woman. I was kind of confused because I wasn't sure if the colored woman is the negro woman or not, or if they are two separate people. Well, apparently, Stella's sister shows up, Blanche, from Mississippi and she just seems in shock that her own sister would actually live in a place like this. Right now, Stella is out at the bowling alley, so Eunice shows her in and Stella is kind of rude and tells her she wants to be left alone. So she looks around, finds whiskey, drinks some, and puts it back. Then Stella shows up and is pretty much right off the bat trying to convince Blanche that this place is not as bad as it seems. So I'll continue reading.
