Tonight I started reading the play The Good Person of Szechwan. It seems to me that it is really straight forward, so far anyways. Wang the water-seller starts out by waiting for the three gods outside the city by the entrance so he can be the first one to greet them. Well, they finally come and he starts running around looking for a place for the gods to stay. He ends up finding a prostitute name Shen Teh who gives up her "client" and a chance at money for her rent the next morning so that the gods may stay with her. By this time Wang has ran off afraid to come back becuase he could not find Shen Teh, which to me I don't think is very polite even if he couldn't find them a place to stay. One thing that I am wondering is the whole reason why the gods are searching for good people, and Shen Teh is definitely a good person, whether she is a prostitute or not and is was really nice of the gods to pay her for their lodging. Well, I will continue reading.
